PEGAS at Moscow Beer Festival
The 10th International Beer Festival was held on 14 - 22 June 2008, in Moscow. As usual the event gathered together the largest breweries from Russia and abroad. Such companies as Moskva - Efes, SANInBev, Ochakovo, Baltika and the Pivnye Skvazhiny Company, one of the best draught beer producers, have presented their beers on this festival.
The festival aims:
- To support the Russian beer producers
- To contribute to beer culture
- To improve the beer quality
- To increase a number of beer sorts on the Russian market
- To study the customer demand for the Russian and exported beer
- To establish business and partner relationships between the festival participants
This year the participants and guests of the festival could not only taste a rich assortment of beers but choose the best among them and take part in many entertainment events. Also the organizers set up the Museum of Beer which should become an integral part of this festival. Besides, during the festival there were public beer tastings to choose the best beer sorts in different nominations.
The festival has clearly demonstrated the situation forming last years on the Russian beer market. Apart from a rich choice of beers supplied by large breweries, draught beer made in small private breweries and microbreweries was highly popular among visitors of the festival. Everyone could taste the freshest draught beer and take his favorite one to enjoy it at home and with friends. To sell draught beer for take - away the festival participants equipped their booths with the PEGAS device meant for filling draught beer manually in PET bottles. In recent years such way of selling draught beer in retail became a common practice.
This festival showed that step by step beer becomes not simply a beverage but a part of national culture. A great number of the festival visitors and the striking interest of the Moscow authorities and mass media to the Moscow Beer Festival is an obvious proof of the growing beer popularity among the Russian customers.
